By KTM Metro Reporter

September 1, 2013: leaders of the four-party political mechanism and of the Federal Democratic Front (FDF) reached the president’s residence, and the prime ministerial residence to inform them formally about the agreement reached between the four-party political mechanism and the FDF on the elections to a new CA. The agreement has to be made constitutional through the presidential ordinance.

One copy of the agreement has been given to the president and another to the Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers (IECM), according to the news on gorkhapatraonline.com. Chairman of IECM has to make recommendations to the president for issuing an ordinance.

According to the agreement reached between the four-party political mechanism and the FDF, the number of members of a new CA will be increased to 585: 240 directly elected, 335 by proportional representation, and 10 nominated; and the FDF will be part of the four-party political mechanism.

During the meetings, the four-party leaders and the FDF leader informed the President and Chairman about the progress in the talks held with the Federal Socialist Front, according to the RSS news posted on gorkhapatraonline.com.

However, leader of the Federal Socialist Party Ashok Rai has publicly said that his party is not participating in the elections until the four-party political mechanism is dissolved and an all-party political mechanism is set up.

The four-party leaders also informed the president and the chairman that they have kept the door open to hold talks with the CPN-Maoist-led 33 parties and to bring on board them.
