By KTM Metro Reporter

November 11, 2011: after nine days of the SAARC summit held in the Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Nepal are meeting in Thimphu: capital of Bhutan for another summit to discuss a collective plan on tackling the climate change and mitigating its impact on the eastern Himalayas: the watershed areas of some of the world's largest rivers.

With the support of the World Bank, UN Development Program, World Wildlife Fund, International Center for Integrated Mountain Development, and the MacArthur Foundation, Bhutan is hosting the ‘Climate Summit’ to find a common position of these four countries on the climate change to present an allied face at the international climate conference such as the upcoming COP-17 to be held in Durban from Nov 28, 2011 ‘The Times of India’ reports.

However, heads of the four state and governments have to confirm their participation in the climate summit to be held in Bhutan that has postponed it for holding the wedding of the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk in October.

At the meeting on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in the Maldives, Bhutanese Prime Minister Thinley has invited Nepalese Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai to attend the Climate Summit to be held in Bhutan on November 19, 2011. In respond to the Bhutanese invitation, Nepalese Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai explained to Thinley that he would send a high level team, as he would be busy with the peace process.
