Need For Stopping Micro-management And Meeting With Representatives
By KTM Metro Reporter
September 13, 2011: Prime minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has held two meetings: one with the representatives of the EU members, another with the representatives of Nepal Chambers of Commerce yesterday alone.
Certainly, many Nepalis and foreigners have great expectation for Dr. Bhattarai doing something significant. So, everybody wants to meet and influence him. However, where could Dr. Bhattarai find time to meet with all these people wishing to meet him and at the same time complete the two important tasks such as completing the peace process and the constitution writing for which he has been elected to the office of prime minister?
Dr. Bhattarai needs to stop holding meetings with anybody and completely engage in completing the peace process and the constitution writing. He has not only the problems of convincing the leaders of other political parties but also the leaders of his own party of the need for working together to complete the nationally important two tasks.
According to the news posted on the state-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ of today the Vaidya group of the UCPN-Maoist has refused to join the government of Dr. Bhattarai protesting the turn over of the keys of the containers storing the weapons belonging to the People’s Liberation Army to the Army Integration Special Committee whereas President of NC Sushil Koirala has said that his party would not allow the writing of constitution as long as the UCPN-Maoist keeps its army in various cantonments.
Dr. Bhattarai needs to face these challenges coming from various quarters squarely to complete the peace process and the constitution writing. So, he has no time to waste on meeting with anybody.
In addition, Dr. Bhattarai should not be engaged in micro-managing the state affairs. He should use his entire time for managing the problems of completing the peace process and the constitution writing. He would be a successful prime minister only completing the two nationally important tasks not managing the relief package or formulating the code of conduct for the ministers and so on.
Dr. Bhattarai will busy with the visit of the Indian leaders of different political parties to Nepal starting on Saturday, September 17, 2011. They might be helping Dr. Bhattarai in rallying the political leaders behind him for completing the peace process and the constitution writing.
