Obstacles To Issuing Voters’ Cards

October 1, 2011: officials of the Elections Commissions have not been able to resume the distribution of voters’ cards halted by the cadres of the Madheshi parties in Kohalpur about four months ago, as the cadres of the Madheshi parties have continued to stop the officials of the Election commission from distributing the voters’ identity cards, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

All the officials of the Election Commission have returned to their home, as they find it hard to perform their duty. Cadres of the Madheshi parties have not been happy with the officials of the Election Commission as they have demanded the certificates of citizenship for issuing voters’ cards.

District Chief of the Election Commission Krishna Prasad Kharel has said that currently representatives of almost all Madheshi parties are in the government; they might help the officials of the Election Commission to distribute voters’ cards after the Hindu festival Dashain.
