August 17, 2011: speaking to the reporters in Biratnagar yesterday, senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Nepal has said that some of his party colleagues have the criminal mindset and have been protecting criminals causing defamation to his party according to the news posted on myrepublica.com

Madhav Nepal also has blamed the government for not being able to bring Parshuram Basnet to justice, and such failure of the government has led to the deadly assault on the reporter of Annapurna Post Kishor Budhathoki. Parshuram Basnet had been instrumental to the assault on the reporter of the ‘Republica’ Khilanath Dhakal in Biratnagar. Mr. Basnet remains free.

Leaders of Youth Association Nepal (YAN) affiliated to the CPN-UML have said that they are against the statement of Chairman of YAN Mahesh Basnet threatening Editor-in-Chief of Nagarik Daily Narayan Wagle, myrepublica.com writes. They also have said that the YAN believes in freedom of expression and respects the rights of the people to express their views and ideas.
