Sincerity Of Political Leaders In Nepal

Issue 20, May 16, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

May 11, 2010: after the UCPN-Maoist leaders have called off the indefinite shutdown of Nepal, the diplomats of the European Countries and the US have been lobbying the leaders of the NC and CPN-UML leaders to keep their words that they would sit at a negotiating table with the leaders of the UCPN-Maoist for breaking the political deadlock. Previously, leaders of the NC and CPN-UML have said that the UCPN-Maoist leaders need to call off the indefinite shutdown before having any talks with them.

However, after the UCPN-Maoist leaders have called off the indefinite shutdown, leaders of NC and CPN-UML have put forward some other preconditions for sitting with the Maoists for talks clearly indicating that the leaders of NC and CPN-UML are not only for not following the rule of law but also not keeping their words.

The CPN-UML central committee meeting has passed that it will take the proposal for extending the term of the Constituent Assembly for a year as desired by Prime Minister Madhav Nepal indicating that Madhav Nepal wants to extend his term for another year by hook or crook.

The UCPN-Maoist central committee meeting has passed that it is not for extending the term of the constituent Assembly, as it would give the NC and CPN-UML leaders to continue their illegitimate rule.

The NC central committee meeting has passed that it would continue to support the Madhav government hoping that the NC and CPN-UML leaders would continue their fight and then finish off each other or they have no other alternatives to supporting the Madhav government. Most of the central committee members of the NC are allegedly corrupt politicians and defeated in the elections still they have been enjoying the state power indirectly.
