On February 9, 2009, Minister for Information and Communications and Spokesperson for the Government Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the 18 political parties including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML that have representation in the Constituent Assembly have been trying to tear down the current government taking up one excuse after another for opposing the government, and going against the ordinances the government have brought to work for the people, and urged these political parties to assist the government in doing good things rather than attempting to fail it in every aspects of its activities stated the Kantipur Report.

On February 10, 2009, General Secretary of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said that it was true that his party was looking for changing the current government and his party was going to head a new government after the general convention of his part to be held on February 19 and 20 reported the Radio Nepal on February 11, 2009.
