Auditor General’s Report on Annual Expenditure

On Sunday, November 16, 2008, the Office of the Auditor General submitted its report on the annual expenditure of the Government of Nepal in the fiscal year 2007 to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.

After submitting the report to the President, Acting Auditor General Bachhu Ram Dahal told reporters that the fiscal indiscipline prevailed in the government offices had increased the irregularly spent amount by 9.97 billion in the fiscal year 2007 making the total amount of 26.89 billion rupees irregularly spent so far.

The Acting Auditor General said that the office of Auditor General suggested the government not to make any financial deals without the knowledge of the parliament.

The financial indiscipline had been rampant during the governments headed by former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
