Electing a New President And Forming a New Government

December 7, 2013: Speaking at an event held in his honor by the CPN-UML Gulmi Constituency No. 3- Rupandehi Liaison Forum in Butwal, newly-elected to a CA Gokarna Raj Bista said that the election to a new President should be held by upholding the new mandate of the people given in the elections held on November 19; the people have given a new verdict through the CA elections, the President should be elected in keeping with this verdict, according to the RSS news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

President of NC Sushil Koirala visited Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal when Khanal said in the interview given to the reporter of the ‘gorkhapatra’ that the elections to a new president, vice-president and speaker should be held, and Koirala urged Chairman Khanal not to talk about the elections to a new president.

 

The NC central committee decided to hold talks with the political parties including the UCPN-Maoist, and CPN-Maoist about the formation of a new government, and about the possibility of power sharing with all the parties. The NC also decided to thank all the voters, the international community, the Election Commission, and the government for holding the elections freely and impartially.

 

Civil society leaders have been worried about the reemergence of the tendency of the leaders of the winning political parties focusing on grabbing power rather than on crafting a new constitution. Some civil society leaders have questioned what the leaders would say to the people if they were not to craft a new constitution within a year, according to the news in the ’gorkhapatra’ of today.
