Preparing Budget for FY 2012

Issue 26, June 24, 2012

By KMT Metro Reporter

June 23, 2012: July 15 is the last day of the current fiscal year. So, the country needs another budget to run the administration for another year. The opposition lead by the NC and CPN-UML are not in a mood to let the government promulgate a budget for FY 2012. In absence of the parliament, the government has to promulgate the budget through the ordinance.

Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun had already met with the leaders of the NC and CPN-UML to have their blessings for promulgating a budget for the FY 2012 but the so-called democratic leaders had not only reacted negatively but also asked him to quit the office if the government wanted a new budget. So, the Finance Minister has no option but to go to his own boss and Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda today for his support for promulgating a new budget. Prachanda gave the Finance Minister assurance of his full support for the budget for the FY 2012.
