Peacekeeping Training Conference Starts Off

August 1, 2010: Peacekeeping Training Center Commandants Conference is started off today in Kathmandu. The US GPOI has provided funding for this conference. Nepal Army has collaborated with the US Pacific Command (USPACOM) for Global Peace Operations Initiative for holding this conference.
Army personnel from Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Magnolia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, international association of peace establishment training centre and representative and mediator of UN Peace Establishment Campaign involved in the peacekeeping are participating in the conference, ‘The Himalayan times’ reports quoting RSS.
The objective of the conference is to share the knowledge and experience in peace-building initiatives and to prepare a concept paper on establishing a regional training center for peacekeeping operations; Representatives of International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers secretariat, UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Integrated Training Service and USPACOM are also participating according to myrepublica.com.
