Chinese Loan For Nepalese Hydropower Plant

Issue 10, March 06, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 28, 2011: Visiting Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Fu-Ziying and Nepalese Finance Secretary Rameswor Prasad Khanal have signed a $100 million soft loan assistance in Kathmandu today for funding the 60-megawatt Upper Trisuli 3A Hydropower Project and the Kathmandu Ring Road for its repair, Alheadlinenews.com reports.

Thanks to the administration run by the so-called democratic parties, Nepal has been facing daily 14-hour power outage, as the political parties running the administration did not build even a single power plant during the last 20 years of their reign. The CPN-UML did not let the UCPN-Maoist build a 200 MW diesel plant to alleviate the power short during the reign of the coalition government of UCPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and Madheshi People’s Rights Forum in 2009. The result has been Nepalis live in the perpetual darkness and in poverty, as industries and other businesses that provide them with jobs don’t operate because of not having power.
