Donation Terror Reappearing

January 21, 2013: at the 32nd annual general meeting of Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industries held in Dharan today, the chief guest to the event Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Home Minister Bijaya Gacchedar slept over the event while the business leaders spoke about their problems of donation terror, kidnapping of businesspersons and power outage that have plagued the business, and broke his nap only when his turn to speak came, according to ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’ of tday.
Donation terror was not a new one. The then queen Aishwarya: consort of Birendra forced the industrialists and businesspersons to give donations to her social welfare club fund. If you don’t make donation to her satisfaction, she would send the taxmen to make troubles and force you pay higher amount of tax than you were supposed to pay according to the law.
Then, the Maoists used the donation terror. One of the Maoists calls you and set you the price you need to pay otherwise they will bomb you. Not only the Maoists but also the political leaders in power dubbed as ‘khaobadi’ also terrorized the business community to pay donation. One (Khetan) of the better-known businessmen had once said that he had paid to Maobadi and Khaobadi, too.
Currently, the youth leaders of all political parties are set to collect donations from the industrialists and business people. So, how could the business flourish in such environment of the donation terror of the powerful politicians that are suppose to follow the rule of law?
