issue 36, September 6, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On September 1, 2009, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has boasted that his government has been successful to improve the security situation in Nepal. However, on the same day, the Metro Police has found one of their colleagues dead in Kathmandu. Similarly, on Monday, August 31, a bomb went off nearby the residence of the Vice-president-elect. Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has visited the areas. Thereafter, a number of bombs have gone off in some areas of Tarai. Nepalis have been feeling the lack of security on the roads, streets and even at homes, as killing, looting and not bringing criminals to justice have continued across the country. In addition, Indians have continued the harassment of the Nepalis living in the Nepalese territory on the Nepal-India border. However, Madhav Nepal claims that his government has been successful to improve the security situation.
