Issue 47, November 21, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 17, 2010: Chief whips of the eight political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, CPN-UML, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum, CPN-ML, Samajbadi Party, Janamukti Party, Nepali Janata Dal, Nepal Sadbhawana Party led by Sarita Giri and Nepa Party have signed a joint proposal for amending the parliamentary election regulations following the directives of the Supreme Court of Nepal for starting another process for electing a new Prime Minister to end the never-ending parliamentary election to a new Prime Minister, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of November 17, 2010 writes.

The NC has registered a note of demanding to declare its single candidate Ram Chandra Poudel the winner of the election to a Prime Minister interpreting the directives of the Supreme Court of Nepal in its favor.

Legal experts and political leaders have been interpreting the Court’s directives to suit their interest, as the directives have been good enough to interpret as you wish. The House Speaker has already declared that he cannot do anything as long as the leaders of the major political parties don’t work on the consensus politics following the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007.

At the same time, the officiating government has registered a bill at the parliamentary secretariat for amending the Article 96 (A)(5) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 for making the provision for the officiating government to present a full-scale budget to the parliament, ‘The Himalayan Times’ online of November 17, 2010 writes quoting the state news agency called RSS.
