Issue 49, December 2, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 25, 2012: the army integration has almost completed after 1,531 former members of the People’s Liberation Army join the Nepal Army as trainees today. The army integration was a part of the comprehensive peace agreement the government of Nepal has reached with the Maoists in 2006.

Out of 1,531 PLA members, 71 trainees join the Nepal Army at the officer’s level. Those selected for the officer level will take training at the Nepal Army training center in Kharipati, Bhaktapur. They will take the nine-month long “officer cadet basic training.”

Other 1,460 PLA members joining as the regular soldiers will go to seven different training centers across the country for taking the seven-month long “basic military special training”.
