Issue 46, November 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 11, 2010: hearing in the case of the single candidate Ram Chandra Poudel of NC for a Prime Minister be declared the winner of the election to a new Prime Minister on November 10, 2010, a division bench of Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Girish Chandra Lal has given the instruction to the Speaker of House Subash Nemwang to review the parliamentary regulation so as to make the ongoing prime ministerial election result-oriented after concluding that the country is now facing a severe crisis due to the failure of numerous rounds of parliamentary election to elect a new prime minister, thus creating a state of confusion in the country, nepalews.com writes.

Speaker Nemwang has already has warned the Supreme Court of Nepal of not interfering in the business of the parliament; the election to a Prime Minister is the business of the parliament so the Supreme Court has nothing to do. Obviously, the justices of the Supreme Court cannot give any advices to the Speaker let alone the instructions.

The ongoing electoral process has no confusion rather the NC candidate for Prime Minister has been holding the election to a Prime Minister hostage for the ransom of pulling the country back to the regression and losing any advantages people have gained from the People’s Movement in 2006.
