December 19, 2013: At a meeting with Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda at his Lazimpat residence in Kathmandu yesterday, Vice Minister of International Department of Communist Party of China (CPC) Ai Ping suggested the UCPN-Maoist to focus on the constitution writing process, according to the Xinhua news.

Chinese Vice-minister Ai with a 14-member delegation visiting Nepal suggested that the Maoist party should forge an alliance with other parties to draft a new constitution as soon as possible.

At the meeting, Chairman Prachanda told the Chinese delegates that parties would soon reach a consensus on speeding up the constitution drafting process.

The Chinese delegation arrived in Nepal on Tuesday for the four-day visit to Nepal. Ai is the first high-level international dignitary to visit Nepal after the Nov. 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.

At another meeting with Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya, Chairman Vaidhya told Chinese Vice-minister Ai that his party was not able to participate in the recent CA elections and restated the party’s demand for a high-level all party assembly, according to the nepalnews.com.
