On March 15, 2009, talking to the morning radio program of the state-run Nepal Radio, the revenue officer said that the government has received Rs 1.51 billion from the Voluntary Disclosure of Income System (VDIS) on March 13, 2009, the last day for disclosing the incomes and paying 10% tax on it; it exceeded the target of one billion rupee the government had set.
The number of people disclosing their incomes is only one third of the number the people supposed to disclose their incomes the revenue officer told the radio anchor. The tax office would write to the people who have not disclosed their incomes voluntarily and then further actions would be taken based on their replies following the rules and regulations.
