European Union Provides Nepal With Grants Of Rs 2.2 Billion

July 11, 2011: the European Union (EU) and the Ministry of Finance have signed off an agreement on the grant amount of Rs. 2.2 billion in other words 22 million EURO the EU has provided to Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF) for implementing the activities concerning the peace process in Nepal, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

The activities are to provide conflict-affected and internally displaced people and their families with compensation, to support their reintegration into society and to support and facilitate the enforcement of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) reached between the Government of Nepal and the Maoists in November 2006.

The NPTF operating under the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction is a multi-donor funded Trust Fund set up by the Government of Nepal to support the peace process. Other nations such as Denmark, Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom Norway and Switzerland also contribute to the NPTF.
