Economic and Business Relations Between Nepal And China

June 28, 2011: Nepal plans to strengthen its bilateral relations with its northern neighbor China boosting bilateral economic ties and attracting the Chinese investment in the country.

Speaking at the inaugural function of 11th annual general meeting of Nepal Trans Himalaya Border Commerce Association (NTHBCA) in Kathmandu on June 25, 2011, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has said that his government was committed to strengthen the Nepal-China economic and business relations developing the infrastructures to this end, and has also asked the business community to come up with concrete plans and proposals for attracting the Chinese investment in Nepal.

The government will widen the Kathmandu-Kodari road so that Nepal can benefit from linking up with the world's economic powerhouse, Prime Minister Khanal has said.

Speaking at the same event, Minister for Information and Communication Agni Sapkota has said that after widening of the Kathmandu-Kodari (Tibet border) road to a six-lane, the economic and business relations between the two countries will reach a new height.
