President Returns Back Home Today

December 29, 2012: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav returned home today after receiving a honorary doctorate from the Benaras Hindu University and completing a five-day official visit to India. Vice President Paramananda Jha, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha among other high officials were at the Kathmandu International Airport to welcome the president back home.
Briefly speaking to the reporters at the airport, the president said that he got the impression from Indian leaders of the need for resolving the political problems by political parties on their own.
The president flew to Varanasi on Monday, December 24, 2012, and he received the honorary doctorate from the Benaras Hindu University on the second day of his India visit, and on the same day, he flew to New Delhi where he met with the ruling and opposition politicians and ministers, and has good exchange of views.
Answering journalist’s question about the specific reasons behind his third time meeting with the President he said that he wanted to be sure that the President was comfortable with his medical tests. “Medical tests were the primary purpose for his visit, and I am glad that the medical tests went well", said Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, according to ‘The Himalayan Times’.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav’s latest visit to India has strengthened the cordial relationship between Nepal and India, according to THT ONLINE news. Besides the high-profile political meetings, President Dr. Yadav underwent a medical checkup at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, according to the MoFA.
