Completing the Peace Process and Constitution Writing

March 21, 2011: speaking at the function of releasing a memoir written by PLA Commander of Fifth Division Raj Bahadur Budha in Kathmandu yesterday, spokesperson for the PLA Chandra Prakash Khanal has said that the army integration and constitution writing will be completed within two months if the political parties build a consensus on these matters according to the state-run news agency RSS.

He has also said that the UCPN-Maoist has proposed three modalities such as separate force of PLA combatants, mixed force by adjusting all security forces and unit-to-unit army integration for the complete integration of the army. The political parties have not discussed modalities other than the three modalities proposed by the Maoists. He has also said the integration of the PLA combatants following the standards of the Nepal Army is not applicable to it.

At the same time, speaking at the function held in Kathmandu to mark the Ninth Anniversary of National Dalit Commission, Chairman of Constituent Assembly Subash Chandra Nemwang has said that the constitution writing has reached a decisive stage; work on the constitution writing is gaining speed each passing day; settling the 35 contentious constitutional issues has surely been an achievement to the timely promulgation of the constitution and conclusion of the peace process; However, some of the significant constitutional issues such as state reconstruction remain unresolved, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
