Dual Character Of Nepalese Political Leaders

Issue 33, August 14, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 13, 2011: Nepalese leaders whether they are top leaders or second generation leaders have been saying no alternative to build a consensus on a new government as a minimum requirement for completing the peace process and the constitution writing but in reality they are after the power totally disregarding the national need for their unified efforts on building a new constitution.

Holding the House hostage for two weeks, NC lawmakers have cornered the prime minister to quit the office following the five-point deal the three so-called leaders of the UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML had reached on May 28, 2011 for building a consensus on a new government.

Talking to reporters after the meeting with the prime minister, NC President Sushil Koirala has said that he has asked the prime minister for supporting his party to form a new government because now it is the turn of NC to lead the government, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

According to the news in ‘The Rising Nepal’, Koirala said, "Three consecutive governments led by Prachanda, Madhav Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal have failed to conclude the peace process. Now it is the turn of NC to lead the government to finalize the long stalled peace process."
