State Officials Acting As Trade Union Members

March 28, 2013: nowhere in the world the state employees have unions but in Nepal we have several unions of the state officials. They challenge the government as the labor unions do. The government needs to immediately ban all sorts of the unions of the state officials.
Civil servant trade unions have been protesting against the Civil Service Act-2069 and Health Service Act-2069 amendment ordinances. Minister for General Administration Madhav Poudel had been saddened by the irresponsible nature of civil servant trade unions, according to the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com news of today.
Minister Poudel called the meeting of all the unions of the state employees. Out of eight trade unions, Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Union, Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Sangathan, Nepal Rastriya Karmachari Sangathan (Nijamati) and Madhesi Nijamati Karmachari Sangh boycotted the meeting.
Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Sangh, Rastriya Karmachari Sangathan, Rastriya Swatantra Karmachari Milan Kendra and Rastra Sewak Karmachari Sangathan attended the meeting.
Chairman of Nepal Nijamati Karmachari Sangh: Shobhakar Regmi quoted Minister Poudel as saying, “the government was sensitive towards the problems of civil servants and appealed the concerned trade unions to sit for dialogues as it was the only means to end the prevailing problems.” Minister Poudel urged the trade union officials, who attended the meeting, to assist the government in forming suitable environment for polls saying that the topmost priority of the current government was to hold election, according to the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.
