Not Taking Oath Of Office, And Not Giving Names For Proportional Representation
By KTM Metro Reporter
December 2, 2013: the UCPN-Maoist has ordered its directly elected legislatures not to take the oath of office, and is not giving the list of names the party preferred to get elected by the proportional representation votes, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
The UCPN-Maoist has won 26 directly elected seats, and probably 54 indirectly elected seats through the proportional representation system. Thus, the total strength of the UCPN-Maoist would be 80 against 160 directly elected seats predicted by Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda. The UCPN-Maoist had given the list of 335 names in a sealed enveloped to the Election Commission. The UCPN-Maoist needs to give the names of 54 persons out of the 335 names given to the Election Commission to get elected through the proportional representation.
The UCPN-Maoist has been claiming the massive irregularities in the elections causing the unanticipated defeat in the elections. The UCPN-Maoist leadership says that the election results go against the popular will. However, the Election Commission is not buying this argument not to mention the winning parties. The chief election commissioner has said that anybody claiming any irregularities in the lections should take the issues to the Election Court for hearing.
