USAID Provides Rs 5 billion ln Grant To Nepal

The U.S. Government has provided Nepal with the assistance of $65.474 million (nearly Rs. 5 billion) following the five-year Assistance Agreement reached with the Government of Nepal. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is the implementing agency for the US Government.
Joint Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Lal Shanker Ghimire, and Mission Director of USAID/Nepal David C. Atteberry have signed off the agreement on behalf of their respective governments.
The funds are for the programs to achieve the objectives of President Obama’s three global initiatives such as Feed the Future, Global Climate Change and the Global Health Initiative.
Currently, various programs on the peace process, strengthening democratic institutions, improving governance and rule of law are ongoing. In addition, programs on providing youths with training and education for employment, early childhood education, combating human trafficking, sustainable, accessible, and quality basic health services, enhancing competitiveness in targeted economic sub-sectors and the promotion of inclusive economic growth are also ongoing.
