Nepalese Reports Presented to UN Committee

July 24, 2011: The government of Nepal has submitted its combined fourth and fifth periodic reports to the Committee on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women at the 49th Session of the Committee held at the United Nations headquarters, New York on 11-29 July 2011 following the provision of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) according to the news posted on nepalnews.com on July 22, 2011.

In a press statement released in New York, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations Gyan Chandra Acharya has highlighted the achievement made by Nepal in the elimination of violence against women at the 49th Session of the Committee, and has said that the Nepalese legislature-parliament has enacted the National Commission on Women Act of 2006, Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act of 2007 and the Domestic Violence (Offence and Punishment) Act of 2009 to stop any sorts of violence against women.
