Elections To CA Possible By May 31

December 15, 2012: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Dolakh Bahadur Gurung on Thursday, December 13, 2012 said that it was possible to hold polls by May 31 if political parties were to agree on the election date, and the appointment of Election Commissioner, and remove the legal hurdles to holding elections, according to the news posted by the ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE.’

“If all election-related issues are settled, it will only take 120 days to hold elections,” Acting Chief Election Commissioner Gurung said at a program organized by the District Election Office, Lamjung, Beshisahar on December 13, 2012.

According to Acting Chief Election Commissioner, there were some faults in the voters’ identity cards when the Constituent Assembly elections were held, but this time, there would not be any error in the new ID cards.

“We have collected one crore (10 million) eight lakh (800,000) voters’ identity cards with photographs till now,” said Acting Chief Election Commissioner Gurung, adding that the Election Commission has asked the government to include election-related information in the school curriculum to raise awareness of fair elections, according to the news provided by ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’.
