HLPC Disappointed President Yadav

Issue 18, May 5, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

April 30, 2013: president of NC Sushil Koirala in the capacity of the coordinator of the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) of the four major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF went to see President Dr Ram Baran Yadav after he took over the office of the coordinator from Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda. Each party chief of the four major political parties will hold the office of the coordinator of the HLPC in rotation.

Coordinator Koirala urged President Yadav to help the government in announcing the date of the elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) immediately bringing the opposing political parties to an agreement, according the RSS news posted on thehimalayantimes.com

However, other sources of news said that the HLPC has disappointed President Yadav not being able to convince the opposing political parties of the need for participating in the elections. The CPN-Maoist-Vaidhya has threatened to disrupt the elections or not to allow the holding elections, and sent cadres to loot the laptops and documents of the EC officials updating the voters’ lists in villages. Chairman Vaidhya was not in a mood to allow the elections to be held.
