Filling Out Potholes In Kathmandu

KTM Metro Reporter

July 29, 2017

Kathmandu: After a schoolgirl drowned in the pothole water, another was saved; Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had to order the officials of the concerned ministries such as Transport, urban and local development to fill out the potholes within 15 days.

After the media outcry and the public pressure the concerned State agencies have filled out the potholes even working under the heavy downpour of monsoon rains, and even blacktopped in some important areas where the Prime Minister often travels.

Speaking at the Reporters’ Club on Friday, July 28, 2017, the newly appointed Minister for Physical Planning and Transport Bir Bahadur Balayar said that filling out the potholes on the roads in Kathmandu has been done; he even regretted that the prime minister had to order the State agencies for ensuring even the regular work of filling out the potholes, the news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated.

However, potholes might reappear after some time, as the potholes are filled out with earth rather than stone aggregates as the prime minister had instructed. Monsoon rains would surely easily washed soil from the potholes, as the vehicles running over them would push them out.
