The government has not been able to bring the spread of diarrhea in the remote areas of Jajarkot under control even after the government claiming to send thousands of kilos of prescription drugs and some medical staffs to the affected areas. According to the daily regular news aired by the state-run Radio Nepal, people continue to die from the diarrhea and it has been spreading in other villages, too.

The Minister for Health along with the high-ranking officials of the Health Ministry and the police have visited the diarrhea infected areas about two weeks ago but the disease has been spreading out without control. So, some members of the legislature-parliament have demanded the resignation of the Minister for Health for not being able to control the disease and save the lives of the people.

On July 20, 2009, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal visited the disease-affected areas. He has ordered the Health Minster and high-ranking officials to bring the disease under control before going for the Non-aligned Movement summit in Cairo, Egypt, now after return from Egypt he has visited the areas, and declared the government providing families of the persons died of diarrhea with Rs 10, 000 each, and additional Rs 5,000 to the families if the dead person is the bread earner of the family.
