State Employee Taken Into Custody Of Anti-corruption Agency

March 7, 2012: Anti-corruption Agency called Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken the employee of the Foreign Employment Promotion Board, Murari Prasad Nepal, into custody concerning the case of the irregularities in the account of Rs. 40 million he had managed when he was the Local Development Officer in Bara district five years ago according to the news posted on nepalnews.com.

He had served as the Local Development Officer (LDO) in Bara only for three months but he had managed to misappropriate Rs 40 millions from the state coffer. On Sunday, March 4, 2012, CIAA arrested Murari Prasad Nepal that was working as the undersecretary at the Foreign Employment Promotion Board (FEPB) on charges of misusing Rs 40 million from the state coffers when he worked as a LDO in Bara district two years ago.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the CIAA into the accounts of the development budget in Saptari, Murari Prasad had distributed the state money to local politicians and consumers groups embezzling the development budget and the Parliamentarians’ Development Fund, the news posted on nepalnews.com stated.
