Focus On Improving Living Standards Of The Poor

November 22, 2013: Inaugurating the 49th SEACEN Governors' Conference and high level seminar in Kathmandu yesterday, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has said that the cooperatives, and financial institutions need to focus on improving the lives of the people living under the poverty line, according to the RSS news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

 

The President said that the institutions should engage in the sustainable and inclusive economic growth, as it is the need of the hour for reducing poverty, and the private sector also should undertake economic activities to this end.

 

While informing about Nepal's present economic condition, Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala said that controlling price hike had been the challenging task for the government. He also said that the inflow of remittances, foreign currency reserve, and the existing current account saving have helped in making the Nepalese economy lively and that the government has been active in implementing financial reform.
