Maoist Vice-chairman Meets Senior CPC Official

July 2, 2010: Vice-chairman of Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has met with Head Of International Department Of CPC Central Committee member Wang Jiarui. In the meeting Wang said, "China hopes the constitution-drafting and peace process in Nepal will advance smoothly and that Nepalese society can enjoy continuous development" according to the Xinhua news.
China wants a friendly bilateral relationship conforming to the fundamental interests and common aspirations of the two nations' peoples and also conducive to regional peace, stability and development, he said.
He has also said that the CPC as well as the Chinese government will always view the Sino-Nepal relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. The CPC hopes to conduct inter-party exchanges and cooperation with all Nepalese political parties including the UCPN-Maoist to promote bilateral relations, Wang has said.
Head of the UCPN-Maoist 11-member team visiting China, Narayan Kaji Shrestha in turn has said that he hopes to advance the inter-party exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to develop state-to-state relations.
At the same time, UCPN-Maoist has called Narayan Kaji Shrestha to cut short his 10-day visit to China and return back to Nepal in view of the fast political development occurring in Nepal after the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal.
Leaders of three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have been exploring to form a new government under their leadership.
