Parallel Rallies Of Two Factionsof UCPN-Maoist

April 6, 2012: The faction of the UCPN-Maoist establishment held a mass rally at Basantapur while the hardliner Mohan Baidya faction held another rally at the Ratna Park just a kilometer away from Basantapur to mark the anniversary of the Janaandolan II in Kathmandu today, nepalnews.com reports. Speaking at the rally held at Basantapur, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said that the Baidya faction’s talk of 'people's revolt' was untimely; for any successful revolt, national and international situation should be favorable; so, their talk of revolt is only a wishful thinking.
The Himalayan Times quoting the state-news agency RSS writes that speaking at the rally held at Basantapur to mark the Janaandolan II, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that the UCPN-Maoist is committed to complete the peace process and promulgate a constitution through the Constituent Assembly. "Peace and constitution are the current needs of the people rather than a revolt ", he said, his party would always work in favor of the interests of the people and positive changes in the nation, no matter where it is in the street, the parliament or in the government.
Speaking at the same rally, UCPN-Maoist Standing Committee member and Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has said that the Chhaitra-24 means the Janaandolan II day has a great importance in the history of Nepal as it led the country to changes; the UCPN-Maoist would lead the country for the next two decades, leading other democratic parties together in favor of nationality, independence and people's interest.
Speaking at the same rally, UCPN-Maoist Politburo member/former Minister Hishila Yami has said that the Mohan Baidya faction of the UCPN-Maoist would be dealt with in political and ideological terms.
Founding father of Communist Party of Nepal, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya has urged the parties to complete the tasks of peace process and constitution writing considering the people's sentiment regarding the peace and the constitution.
Earlier, processions of various sister organizations of the UCPN-Maoist have marched to the Basantpur chanting slogans for peace and constitution on the way to the rally venue according to ‘The Himalayan Times’.
