Second Inaugural Of President Barack Obama In America

Issue 04, January 27, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 21, 2013: we have watched the public function of the inauguration of the second term of President Barack Obama of the United Stats of America on TV today. We saw the sea of people on the pedestrian mall in Washington D.C. came from different states to watch the oath-taking ceremony of the second term of President Barack Obama.

The real official oath-administering ceremony was held yesterday, as the constitution requires the president-elect to take the oath before noon January 20. So, President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden took the oath of offices yesterday following the constitutional provision. Yesterday was Sunday, so the public ceremony was held today.

First, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor administered the oath to Vice President Joe Biden. Then, Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath to President Barrack Obama. This time no mistake in the oath citing as was on the oath in 2009. The chief justice erroneously administered the oath in 2009. To correct it, he administered the oath to President Barack Obama next day in 2009. Thus, after Franklin D Roosevelt, President Barack Obama became the second president to take the oath four times.

In his inaugural speech, President Barack Obama said that Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security wouldn’t sap us but free us to take risk. The speech was short and powerful one. One commentator said that the speech was really based on the experiences of the last four years of his presidency, and better than his inaugural speech in 2009.

Former Presidents two George Bushes did not show up in the inauguration. Father Bush has been in the hospital and probably he was still in the hospital, but the reason for the son Bush for not showing up in the inauguration function was not known.

Presidential challenger Mitt Romney also did not show up. He was not holding any public elected positions. That might be the reason for not showing up in the inauguration function.

On November 6, 2012, President Obama won the presidential elections garnering 332 electoral votes. Every state has a certain number of electoral votes means the combination of two senators each state sends, and a number of representatives depending on the population to the House of Representatives. If a candidate wins the states by the direct votes means the candidate takes all the electoral votes.

The total number of the Electoral College is 539: one hundred senators, and 435 House of Representatives, and four central representatives. Any candidate requires 270 electoral votes to get elected to the presidency.

On January 4, 2013, out of the 539 Electoral College officially, 332 voted for President Barack Obama, and officially elected Barack Obama to the president of the United States of America for the second term.
