Political Leaders Settling Differences

Issue 40, October 2, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 1, 2011: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda and his deputy Mohan Vaidya ‘Kiran’ have agreed on not fueling the differences between them; however, the Vaidy group has continued the street protests holding the torch process yesterday night.

The Vaidhya group has not been happy with the UCPN-Maoist turning over the keys of arms containers to the Army Integration Special Committee, and the four-point deal the UCPN-Maoist reached with the UDMF and the statement of Defense Minister Sarat Singh Bhandari on the possibility of splitting 22 districts of the Terai.

Similarly, President of NC Sushil Koirala and Senior NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba have been at odds because of the NC leadership dissolving the committees of the sister organizations.

Deuba has offered his resignation from the office of the member of the Central Working Committee protesting the President dissolving the committees of the sister organizations. President Koirala wants Deuba to take back his resignation but Deuba is not in a mood to do so until the president reaches a package deal otherwise Deuba is opting for the nationwide protest against the injustice inflicted on his supporters.
