Kathmandu: Hindu pilgrims use the Hilsa Border Post between Nepal and China for visiting Mansarovar Kailash in the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China, as it is the shortest route to reach this holy place where Lord Shiva dwells. Hindu pilgrims particularly from India fly from Nepalgunj to Simikot, and there they travel on horse back and forth between Simikot and Kailash using the Hilsa border post.

Humla has not been linked with roads so far. People either have to walk or fly to Simikot. However, with Hilsa Post allowed to use for the pilgrims to travel to Kailash and back to Simikot, this area has been tourist hub during the season, and Humlians have benefited immensely, the news in the ‘artha-bazaar’ of “gorkhapatra’ stated today.

Some 18 small and large lodges and hotels have come up at Hilsa and Simikot to cater the needs of 12,000 pilgrims that have visited this year, the news stated. This tourism industry has created a number of jobs in the different sectors for the Humlians making them better off every year.

Humlians have been given the benefits of trading within 30 km of the Nepal-Chinese Tibet border making them able to bring any things they need for the daily life and for running the businesses on the Nepalese side of the border, the news stated.
