Issue 44, November 3, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 2, 2013: Election and festival fever is reaching climax recently. Election campaigners have been singing the festival songs called ‘bhailo and deusi’ for votes.

Women sing ‘bhailo’ songs on the day of Laksmi puja whereas men sing ‘deusi’ songs next day going from one house to another during the five-day festival called ‘tihar’ or ‘svonti’ or’ dipavali’ in Nepal. Each household gives something to both the ‘bhailo’ singers and ‘deusi’ singers.

Singing ‘bhailo’ songs, and ‘deusi’ songs, election campaigners have been asking for votes for their candidates going from one house another.
