President Attends Fulpati Celebration

October 14, 2010: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadhav has attended the function held by the Nepal Army at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on the occasion of Fulpati on the seventh day of the 15-day of the Dashain festival today. Other dignitaries such as Vice President Parmananda Jha, Officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and Chairman of Constituent Assembly Subhas Nembang have also attended the Fulpati function.
At the same time, a religious procession has gone from the old palace square to the Jamal to collect the auspicious items for making offerings to Goddess Taleju Bhavani. A music band and a platoon of ancient army lead the palanquin carried by two porters on shoulder poles and accompanied by government officials to Jamal and collect the auspicious items placed there and pick them up and return to the old palace square for making offerings to Goddess Taleju Bhavani there.
Following the tradition, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will offer Dashain blessing called tika on Sunday, October 17, to common folks at the presidential residence, Shital Niwas in Kathmandu from 1:00 PM according to the official statement released by the office of the President. Following the tradition, the Head of State offers tika to anybody willing to stand on a long line to get it.
