Take Part In Election Or Not – RJP
August 7, 2017
Kathmandu: generals and commanders of Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) have been sitting at Babarmahal: the party’s office in Kathmandu since yesterday for four-day meeting of the central working committee to decide whether to participate or not in the third-phase local election being held in Province Number two on September 18, 2017.
The most logical thinking leaders and cadres have been for taking part in the election stating RJP would lose its significance if it were not to participate in the election.
Among the leaders for participating in the election has been Hridesh Tripathi that has been saying RJP has two options either to participate or not. If RJP were not to engage in the election then it must be able to create an environment conducive to disrupt the lection and ultimately stop holding the election. If RJP were not in a position to do so then it was better for it to take part in the election. In both cases, RJP could keep its existence otherwise it would lose its political importance.
However, most of the party stalwarts have been for not going to the election without the Bill on Amendment to Constitution is passed. They knew that until the opposition party were not for the amendment, the parliament passing the Bill was impossible. Probably, they have to stick to their demand for passing the Bill no matter what happens to RJP to preserve their ego. As a matter of fat, RJP is the six Madheshi political parties jumbled together. How sticky they are, and how long they will remain together remains to be seen.
