Home Minister Bhim Rawal At Parliament

Issue 30, July 26, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On July 24, 2009, speaking at the parliament, Home Minister Bhim Rawal has said that the police needed to fire on the crowd killing one innocent person in Saptari more than a week ago at the heat of argument over a bag of fertilizer brought by a Nepalese farmer from across the Nepal-India border, as the crowd attempted to grab a weapon from the police. The Home Minister left the parliament immediately after he finished speaking disregarding the concerns of the parliamentarians over this issue.

Locals in Saptari have continued to protest against the police killing the innocent man, and have demanded the government declare the dead person a martyr and pay compensation to the family of the deceased for the loss of the loved one accordingly.
