Local Administration Restricts Protest Area
Issue 45, November 09, 2008
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On November 03, 2008, the Kathmandu District Administration published a notice stating that the peaceful protest would be allowed at the place called Khulamanch: a place in Tundikhel in Kathmandu but not in other areas. Protesters would not be permitted to stage protests at Mandala: the most convenient place for protesters, and other areas in Kathmandu.
Protesters at Mandala often obstruct vehicle traffic causing traffic congestion in the core area of Kathmandu. Certainly, Khulamanch is a better place for protesters to peacefully stage protests without hampering heavy traffic in the area.
