Resolve the Diarrhea Epidemic or Quit
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
August 24, 2009, the Madhav administration has not been able to stop the people dying from diarrhea in the mid-western Nepal despite the administration spending so much money and applying efforts on it. The state-run newspaper “Gorkhapatra” of August 23, 2009 has reported that the prescription drugs intended for the diarrhea epidemic-affected remote areas have been lying at the Nepalgunj airport for a week; people have continued to die from the diarrhea but the Ministry of Health has claimed that it has brought the diarrhea under control.
Some Nepalis have demanded that either Prime Minister Madhav Nepal fire the Health Minister Umakanta Chaudhary or declare a state of emergency in the diarrhea affected areas otherwise the members of the legislature-parliament need to fire the Prime Minister for not doing any concrete things to stop the people dying from diarrhea even in the 21st century.
