Open Letter To Maoists

Issue 46, November 15, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

November 10, 2009: Stop playing the immature political game of declaring symbolic republics and holding the legislature hostage at the time when you need to expedite the writing of a new constitution and then promulgate it and hold elections for a legislature.

Your Prime Minister has resigned from the position of Prime Minister protesting against the unconstitutional action of the President on overriding the decision of the Prime Minster on firing the Chief of Army Staff, and has shown his political maturity and his commitment to democracy and democratic values and principles.

Keep up fighting against the unconstitutional action of the President and for democratic values and principles but not holding the legislature hostage but letting it run smoothly.

Do not waste your valuable time on holding the legislature hostage, and holding sit-in rallies and declaring symbolic republics and so on rather spend on speeding up the writing of a new constitution and holding elections.

Nepalis have already seen the activities of the so-called parliamentary democrats that have shown no respect for democratic values and principles and in the name of saving democracy they have pushed the ceremonial President to violate the Interim Constitution of Nepal and made him a scapegoat.

In the coming elections you will surely make a clean sweep of the legislature defeating the so-called democrats and you will have a simple majority if not two-third; then you do whatever you think is good for the people. So, why do not you engage in institutionalizing Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal speeding up the writing of a new constitution rather than playing useless political games with the so-called in other word fake democrats?
