Voters’ ID Card

KTM Metro Reporter

Kathmandu, July 15, 2017: The Election Commission has opened up its district offices to register the voters that had missed the previous registration to register for the upcoming provincial and federal elections but not applicable to the local level elections in the province number two and other areas where re-polling will be done.

Anybody going for the registration needs to carry a citizenship document. The registration will be open from Sravon 1 (July 16) to Sravon 15 (July 30). Anybody willing to register his/her name on the voters’ list has to go to the concerned district election commission office, and pose for a picture for getting a voter’s ID card.

The ruling coalition of NC and Maoist-Center has urged the Election Commission to extend the time for the registration, as the monsoon season keeps the farmers busy with the rice plantation, and the monsoon rains are not favorable for traveling to the district election office. So, they also urged the Election Commission to make provision for registering voters at the local units.
