Breaking Political Deadlock Challenging To Leaders

August 8, 2012: Speaking at the mass rally held by the National Indigenous Nationalities Women's Forum today, CPN-UML leader Prithvi Subba Gurung said that indigenous nationalities needed to set up their own party to ensure their rights, and accused the NC and the CPN-UML of disregarding the issues of indigenous nationalities; so, the requirement was for a separate party of indigenous nationalities to address their issues. CPN-UML relieved Mr. Gurung of his party job for criticizing the leadership for not heeding the concerns of the indigenous people on the pretext of disciplining him. The indigenous people are set to announce their new party tomorrow on the day of Indigenous People.

Speaking at the function held to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Mahendra Bodhi Higher Secondary School, Tanseen, Palpa today, Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma said that the government would not quit the office in the current situation of no legislative assembly, as it could lead the country into a failed state, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.

Speaking at a news conference held in Biratnagar today, Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav said that the greed of political parties for state power had precluded the CA from crafting a new constitution and emphasized the need for breaking the political deadlock to institutionalize democracy building a 'meaningful' consensus among the political parties writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.

Speaking at the event held by Inter-party Women Alliance in Lalitpur, yesterday, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that his party was ready to support the NC-led national consensus government if the parties were to agree on other issues following the five-point deal reached on May 3, writes myrepublica.com. “Let´s first settle the contentious issues of the new constitution and agree on way to promulgate a new statute,” he said, “We are ready to form a NC led government to hold a fresh election as per the five-point deal.” However, other opposition leaders demanded first the prime minister to quit the office then only to start any talks on any other matters.
