Students Affiliated To Nepali Congress Assaulted Media Office

September 5, 2011: a group led by Rajkumar Sigdel, vice-chairperson of Nepal Students Union Unit of Pashupati Campus, Chabahil, Sunday vandalized the newsroom and office of the editor of the Naya Patrika daily, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
The group entered the office of the Naya Patrika daily at Kamal Pokhari and destroyed chairs and windows. The group has done so over the news published about a gang fight of the two groups in the Naya Patrika daily.
Nepal Students Union is the students’ association affiliated to the Nepali Congress (NC). Previously, we have had the news about the students’ associations affiliated to the communists have done so but this time, the students affiliated to the NC have resorted to punish the reporters reporting their wrong deeds. How could they claim to be democrats when they want to muzzle the media people by force?
NC leaders need to take strong actions against the students that have acted against democratic norms and values otherwise the NC leaders would be fake democrats as the communists have been the fake communists in Nepal.
