CIAA Held Allegedly Corrupt Officials Of NEA And Other Offices

September 2, 2013: Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has held additional 10 officials on charges of purchasing low quality transformers causing billions of rupees worth of loss to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and to the nation, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

 

Officials of NEA taken into custody are director Arjunkumar Chauhan, former director general Sashi Vikram Thapa, deputy director Maheshkumar Karki, former general manager Yugalkishor Shah, general manager Hari Bahadur Gasi, deputy general manager Manojkumar Baral, assistant director Nimeshkumar Pokharel, electrical engineer Vinodekumar Svarankar, assistant electrical engineer Rambijul Mandal, and engineer Suraj Prasad Shah.

 

CIAA has already filed a case against 23 officials including Executive Director of NEA Ramesvor Yadav at the Special Court for irregularities in purchasing transformers worth of billions of rupees.

 

Similarly, CIAA has filed a case against 10 officials of the two State offices. CIAA has filed a case against six officials of the Mugling-Naubise Road at the Special Court for irregularities in collecting turnpike tolls. CIAA also has filed a case against four officials including the chief of the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj for irregularities in the hotel administration, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
